About

Work: My work is completely about improvisation. That means i never do any planning or preliminary sketching. Everything is “freestyle”.

The only thing i do know more or less before i start is what kind of tools i want to use – in order to create certain graphical dynamics. And a rough idea for a colour palette.

I usually begin with painting a few areas in different ways and colours and than add some more detailed elements that feel best at that time. From there anything can happen. It depends pretty much on all kinds of experiences and impressions that i had during the last hours, days, weeks or months and of course thoughts or feelings about the general present and future. According to that i choose for example the speed i paint with, the density of the colours, the accuracy of lines or the wealth of detail.

The main goal is to adjust a certain harmony between all the elements within the painting and so to imply a visual energy that is intended to inspire the viewer in different, mostly positive ways.
